Westmoreland’s most wanted man shot dead by police

A man listed as Westmoreland’s most wanted was shot dead by police during a confrontation in the parish, toady (July 22).

He is Sadan Mullings otherwise called ‘Sadam’.

A statement from the constabulary communication unit says Mullings succumbed to wounds he received during an incident, in which he and his cronies allegedly fired on members of the security forces, during an intense gun battle.

Police say Mullings was wanted for over 20 murders and multiple shootings in Westmoreland and other parishes.

These include the drive-by killing of four people at a cook shop in Bath, in the parish, on March 18.

Meantime, an Uzi submachine gun and a Glock pistol were seized in the incident.

And, a policeman was reportedly hit by a bullet during the incident.

However, he escaped being wounded as the bullet was lodged in his bulletproof vest.

A police service vehicle was extensively damaged by gunfire.

The Inspectorate of the Constabulary and the Independent Commission of Investigations (Indecom) are investigating the incident.
