Earlier Jamaican pacer Sheldon Cottrell grabbed 3 for 43 to restrict Afghanistan to 163 for 9 from 35 overs after a rain delay.

Captain Jason Holder (2-21) and Kesrick Williams (2-34) were the pick of the Windies bowlers while Kemar Roach and Carlos Brathwaite claimed a wicket each. Nikita Miller was wicketless from his 2 overs which cost 13 runs

This after Afghanistan recovered from 71 for 8, through the lower order efforts of Samiullah Shenwari who got 42 and Gulbadin Naib, who added 48, in a productive 9th wicket stand of 91.
