Windies lose ODI series against Bangladesh despite Shai Hope’s century

Shai Hope successive century and fourth overall could not prevent the West Indies from crashing to an 8 wicket defeat to hosts Bangladesh in the third and deciding One Day International in Sylet.

Hope struck and an unbeaten 108 which was more than 50 percent of the west indies score as they posted 198 for 9 in their 50 overs.

They were restricted by career-best bowling figures from Mehidy Hasan of 4 for 29 as he engineered a mid-innings batting collapse from which the visitors never recovered.

Marlon Samuels was the next best ‘Windies batsman on 19.

Chasing 199 for a series winning victory Bangladesh romped to their target closing on 202 for 2

Tamin Iqbal led the way with an unbeaten 81 while Soumya Sarkar was dismissed for 80 – they shared in a 131 run second wicket partnership

Liton Das 23 and Mushfiqour Rahim not out on 16 were the other scorers for Bangladesh.

In the process Bangladesh took the three game series 2-1 to go along with the 2 nil test series win.

Both teams now turn their attention to the three game T/20 series
