Windies vs England second ODI washed out at Trent Bridge

by September 21st, 2017

The second One Day International between the West Indies and England at Trent Bridge was abandoned earlier as a no result washout due to rain.

Only 11 minutes of action was possible before play was interrupted with England on 21 without loss after 2.2 overs, after they had lost the toss and were asked to bat.

Jonny Bairstow (9) and Alex Hales (10) were the batsmen at the crease.

The latest play could have started was 5:56 BST, but the decision to abandon the game was taken at 4:15.

England lead 1-0 in the five-match series, having won the first game at Old Trafford by seven wickets.

The third ODI will be held at Bristol on Sunday.

West Indies opener Chris Gayle, who turned 38 on Thursday, was ruled out after pulling a hamstring in the warm-up.

A team spokesman said Gayle would have a scan to assess the extent of the damage.
