West Indies women’s team captain Stafanie Taylor is still ranked number one in the world according to the latest International Cricket council batting ranking and has reached two record breaking milestones despite the ‘Windies women’s dismal showing in the recent series in New Zealand.
Taylor moved up in the record books to fifth place on the all-time top women’s scorers in one day international cricket during the New Zealand series.
She also surpassed new Zealand’s Debbie Hockley to move into the top 5 with 4,230 career runs – still at the top of the list however is Mithali Raj of India with 6295 runs.
The Jamaican all-rounder has also moved into second spot in women’s T/20 career runs with 2,582 runs, just 24 runs short of becoming the all-time leading scorer in Twenty/20 women’s cricket – Charlotte Edwards of England who is now retired, holds the top spot with 2,605 runs.
In the meantime Deandra Dottin is still in 5th spot on the ICC batting rankings – Hayley Matthews also remains the number 1 ranked T/20 all-rounder followed by Dottin in 2nd and Taylor in 3rd.
Matthews is 3rd in the T/20 bowling rankings.
The West Indies women are hoping to successfully defend their world T/20 title in November when the 2018 ICC World T/20 championships will be hosted in Guyana, st Lucia and Antigua and Barbuda.
