Four people, including a woman, were arrested by the Manchester police on Tuesday, during an operation, aimed at thwarting a robbery.

Police also seized a 9 millimetre pistol, which was found during the search of a motor car and its 4 occupants.

This brings to four, the number of guns seized by the Manchester police in the past week.

Reports are that about 11:20 am, the police were informed, that a bank customer had completed a transaction, and after leaving the bank, the customer noticed that another vehicle was following.

Deputy Superintendent of Police in charge of operations for the Manchester Police Division, Anthony Lewis, said officers responded and intercepted a vehicle matching the description given.

Dsp Lewis is cautioning other persons conducting similar bank transactions, to be aware of their surroundings.

He is also warning criminals against viewing Manchester as a safe haven, as the police will continue operations to find them.
