Jamaica’s entire football fraternity is now in mourning.

This with the news that manager of the National Senior Women’s team Jean Nelson died on Saturday following a short period of illness.

Nelson who was the first official president of the Jamaica Women’s Football Association was a stalwart and a giant in her support of women’s football.

Her love for the game, even in its infancy, led her to drive relentlessly for its organization and development locally – including the first Women’s football league.

JFF president Michael Ricketts was among those paying condolences.

Nelson before her passing, had the distinct pleasure of managing Jamaica’s first and only team to the FIFA Women’s World cup finals in France in 2019.
